Designed from scratch by the American premium factory GP87, this model completely abandons traditional fiberglass in favor of an advanced 100% Triax Carbon construction. This makes the Lemurian Carbon probably the lightest splitboard currently available on the market – in a size of 158 cm it weighs just about 2.8 kg, drastically saving energy during extended ascents.
Advanced Damping and Construction Technologies
Despite its feather-light weight, the board does not fall into uncontrollable vibrations. This is all thanks to the integrated damping architecture that makes the splitboard ride as if glued to the ground:
- 100% Triax Carbon Fibers: Replacing the glass mesh with pure carbon guarantees powerful cross stiffness, brilliant responsiveness, and strong pop without adding grams.
- DFD™ System (Dual Frequency Dampening) + D3O®: An innovative combination of smart polymer D3O® with titanized strips and rubber bands inside the core. At low speed, the board cooperates with the rider, but as soon as you speed up, the D3O® material instantly stiffens the entire structure and absorbs micro-vibrations, allowing for secure cutting of icy chunks.
- Torsion Control Core (TCC): A core made from poplar and paulownia arranged at a 45-degree angle. Right under the feet, the wood layout is rotated 90 degrees, which dramatically improves energy transfer to the edges and control over turns.
Behavior in Backcountry and Ascents
The Setback Freeride Camber profile combines classic camber underfoot with a raised nose (Early Rise Rocker). Combined with a 10-millimeter taper and a subtle shallowtail swallowtail, the splitboard glides in the deepest powder without the need to forcefully load the back foot. Meanwhile, on hard, windswept surfaces, the aggressive edge grip provides a rock-solid point of support.
In ascent (touring) mode, the Precision Control Core divides the board into two perfectly balanced, independent ski halves, facilitating traversing icy slopes. Reliable Phantom Hercules clips and hidden Thinserts™ ensure the perfect joining of halves into a monolith during descent, keeping the base smooth without protruding screws.
