Sims Fakie is a new board in the Sims collection while also marking the return of a 90s legend. A completely new board shape, unique, with deep sidecut and short turn radius, which will satisfy every freerider and carver. Although the Fakie is quite stiff, it is nimble and maneuverable, which you will appreciate in tight turns between trees or when battling a steep wall. Fakie has a tapered shape, it is a typical freeride board, built for riding in one direction. A wide, elongated nose, flattened tail, and moved-back center of gravity in the form of a setback. This creates a board profile designed for powder riding, reducing back leg fatigue and making riding in deep snow easier. 

The Fakie is constructed with the best Sims MOD 5 core, combining American poplar with thin strips of beech wood running along the edges to enhance edge hold and stability at any speed. Sims Directional Wave Form Technology is an advanced core construction through thickening beneath the bindings, resulting in greater shock absorption, flexible work, and faster response in edge-to-edge transitions, with a slight increase in leverage. The thin tip technology reduces the board's swing weight, making low-speed maneuvering easier. A 40 mm wide guide made from eco-friendly basalt fiber reduces vibrations and chatter at speed, lowering vibrations caused by our most advanced Tri-Tex fiberglass matrix. Fakie is extremely fast thanks to the Premium Racing base. 

Traditional camber

A single convex arc between the board's contact points provides predictable edge hold, load and pop during rider's pressure exertion and release in turns.

Core - MOD5

By placing beech wood, which has excellent resistance to heat, water resistance, high strength-to-weight ratio, and flexibility, on both sides, this core offers significantly improved response in edge-to-edge transitions.

Tip to tail construction

This is a traditional construction featuring a full wooden core from tip to tail, providing a smooth ride, stability, and durability.

Directional wave form

This core, in key areas beneath the bindings, in line with the setback, has increased thickness for enhanced shock absorption, flexible work, and faster reaction during edge-to-edge transitions, with a slight increase in leverage.

Sintered Premium Racing base

This base utilizes high-density, high-speed base material selected for molecular mass, providing unmatched speed, excellent wear resistance, and increased wax permeability. 

Flexible board tips

This weight-reducing technology decreases the material at the board's tip and tail, resulting in less "swing weight," making rotations and tricks easier and faster.

Tri-Tex fiberglass

This is our most advanced matrix; a 3-directional layout combining lightweight fiberglass laid at 90 ̊, 45 ̊, and -45 ̊ angles, providing unrivaled pop, rebound, flex, and twist in our highest performance boards.

I Stringer Basalt

A 40 mm wide eco-friendly basalt fiber material is integrated into the core, improving damping; naturally reducing oscillations and vibrations at speed.

Sims snowboards is a legendary company founded in 1963. It was created by Tom Sims, just as he created the first snowboard and snowboarder. He dug the first halfpipe, lobbied the skiing community to let us on the lifts, organized the first competitions, built the first professional Team (Tom, Craig Kelly, Kidwell, Salasnek, Palmer) His visions are today's snowboarding. 

Already in the 60s, Tom Sims explored ideas to combine skateboarding and surfing with snow. In his school woodshop in seventh grade in Haddonfield, New Jersey, Tom hand-built the first snowboard. This board is currently exhibited at the Colorado Ski and Snowboard Museum in Vail, Colorado. In 1963, Tom founded the SIMS brand, probably the first surf, skate, and snow brand in the world. 

Not skiing, but surfing and skateboarding. These were Tom's roots, and they informed all his approach to snowboarding. The distinction was crucial. For SIMS, it was always about freestyle and fun. Not gathering points. And growing outward from this utopian vision of self-expression through radical action, the culture flourished. 

From the beginning, Sims relied on riders to guide and develop each product. It is an inclusive DIY approach that sets a standard, allowing progress in everything from construction and manufacturing innovations to technological and product breakthroughs that shifted the paradigm. The first board with metal edges, the first pro model; the first double-strap bindings, the first folding highback, the first women's board, and so on. Over decades. Today, SIMS exists to celebrate the past, support progress in the present, and push snowboarding forward into the future.
