Telos Backslash Splitboard for the 2023/2024 season is a multi-award-winning and appreciated masterpiece of engineering in the USA, in the Volume Shifted / Alternative Freeride type. According to the "Volume Shifted" concept, it is a short but very wide board, allowing for a model choice of 4 to 8 cm shorter than a standard splitboard, without losing float in powder. This provides a radical reduction in rotational weight (swing weight), making ascents, maneuvering in tight forests, and technical turns on the slope easier.
Shape & Profile
- Tapered Directional Shape (17 mm Taper): A powerful, wide front (nose) dramatically narrows towards the back of the board. This provides effortless lift in deep snow without overloading the back leg. The geometry is designed so that you can stand in a fully centered stance in powder, which reduces muscle fatigue.
- Setback Camber Profile with Large Nose Rocker: Traditional, strong camber starting 25 mm behind the center of the board guarantees excellent grip underfoot, energy, and stability. The long front with rocker immediately "pushes" the splitboard to the surface of fresh snow.
- Multi-Radial Sidecut: Specially designed, multi-radius sidecut allows for smooth and stable carving of deep turns on groomed slopes, easing entry into the turn phase.
Construction and Materials
- Transition Control Core (Poplar & Paulownia) Core: The core is designed and built as two individual ski cores. In climbing mode, this provides perfectly balanced flex in each ski and facilitates movement on the skin track. The addition of X-Wood technology stiffens the areas under the bindings transversely.
- Fiber-FleX Laminate (Triax): Lightweight triaxial fiberglass woven over and under the core ensures proper pop, dynamic energy return, and low weight for the entire setup.
- Durable Top ECO Textured Nylon: The top layer made from ecological castor beans. Its structure prevents damage and edge rash when climbing, as skis rub against each other.
- ELECTRA Base (PTEX 4000): The fastest, high-performance sintered base saturated with graphite. Provides excellent acceleration and smoothness on flat terrain sections.
Splitboard Systems and Finish
- Phantom Hercules Clips: Equipped with ultra-lightweight, durable, and flat connecting buckles, which tightly close both halves of the board into one whole.
- Ceramic Edge Tune & Aluminium Protection: The edges (both inner and outer) are ceramic sharpened at the factory. The ends are protected with aluminum protectors against delamination.
Riding Characteristics and Flex
- Flex: Stiff / Responsive (7/10): Provides a sense of absolute stability and security in technical, steep terrain as well as during aggressive edge pressure.
- Purpose: This is a pure "Backcountry Masterpiece". An ideal board to complement your quiver or as the only split for finding the best powder lines, riding between trees, and deep carving on the slope.
